British Hills Knowledge Base: Canadian English Pronunciation

There are two major differences in pronunciation between Japanese and English. The first is differences in intonation and rhythm, and the second is the number of sounds. There are 44 sounds (called phonemes) in the English language. In Japanese there are only 24. So, in order to speak English with better pronunciation, it's important to master these 44 sounds. Some are similar to Japanese sounds you can already say, such as 'b', but some will be new, such as 'th'.

We hope that this will be a useful resource for you, so you can improve your pronunciation, reading  and spelling through phonics.
