First, what does “hubbub” mean? In English it’s the loud, lively noise of people chatting and having fun together. Our new newsletter at British Hills is all about having fun with English, so we felt that hubbub was a perfect name!

We will make a new hubbub every season. You can find them at British Hills, or download them here. Inside are all kinds of fun and interesting things, like puzzles, guides and learning tips. There are even competitions, as well as links to YouTube videos and online activities.

Also, are you a student? Will you visit us soon? If you are then we have a special page here just for you! We’ll give you lots of useful, easy English that you can use at British Hills. We’ll also recommend places for you to visit and things you can do here. Have a look!

We hope that you enjoy hubbub, but if you have any comments or questions for us, please send us a message. Hubbub is for you, our guests at British Hills, so we’d love to hear from you. You can contact us by mail (see here for the address), by posting a comment on our twitter or YouTube channel, or by visiting us!

We look forward to seeing you.
Thank you again and enjoy!

Seasonal article

We make a new hubbub every March, June, September and December, and every edition will have a new seasonal article. In it a British Hills teacher will tell you about something interesting for them. It could be their home country in spring, a winter event abroad, or perhaps they will talk about a Japanese festival that they love. We hope that you will enjoy reading our seasonal articles and, as always, message us with any questions or comments that you have!

Meet our teachers

Every season, we introduce one of our teachers! Did you know that you say "Howzit?" to greet someone in South Africa?  Do you know where Sophie's favourite place at British Hills is? How many languages can Moja speak? Find out in our teacher interview!

Stamp Rally

Are you coming to British Hills for the day? Are you a student with some free time? If you are then try our stamp rally challenge! Check for the stamp locations on the back page of hubbub. At every location there is also a challenge. If you find all the secret words then maybe you can get a special mystery stamp!

Victorian Alley Recommendations

Our Victorian Alley is full of all kinds of wonderful things, from drinks and snacks to teapots and Love-chan toys. Every season our shop staff present a selection of goods from our gift shop to recommend to you. You might see the perfect souvenir from your visit to British Hills so have a look!

British Hills to-do list

British Hills is a big place! What is there to do there? Check out our to-do list on the back page of hubbub. See if you can complete our check list of activities!
