Thank you for visiting our blog. The purpose of this blog is to talk about teaching and learning English in Japan and sometimes the things we love which are rugby and football and other aspects of British culture.
There are a lot of changes happening in the Japanese English education system at the moment: English as a school subject in elementary schools from 2020; speaking assessments for JHS and HS; teaching more subjects in English at university and sometimes even High School.
English is an essential tool for becoming a global citizen and teachers, like you, have an enormous responsibility to help with Japan's globalization. We hope to help you by offering some ideas to get your students learning, using and enjoying English. Between us we have over 16 years of English teaching experience in Japan and from that, we will offer you some practical advice from the things we have learned and from some of the challenges we have faced.
We, of course, have many unresolved questions about the best way to teach. So, we also want to create a community of teachers who can share their ideas and opinions on this blog. Through talking with each other we can learn and improve upon our own habits of teaching.
We very much look forward to meeting you here, on this blog, or at British Hills someday.
All the best with your teaching.
