Hey guys! My name is Brett A (or Bretta) and I’m from England. I’ve been working in Japan since 2012 and currently live with my wife in Aizu Wakamatsu.
People often ask me why I chose to come to Japan and my answer is simple. When I was a child my father showed me a very old film called “The Seven Samurai” by Akira Kurosawa. I was fascinated by the sound and look of Japanese and Japan. From that moment it was my dream to one day visit the country. In 2005, my dream came true. I had never travelled abroad by myself before but for three months I studied Japanese in Okazaki, Aichi prefecture. The experience changed my life forever. I fell in love with Japan and, after trying some volunteer work in nearby schools, decided to become an English teacher. The rest, as they say, is history. In my free time I enjoy sports and particularly football (soccer). My birthplace is called Leicester and in 2016 their football team became Premier League champions. Shinji Okazaki was our striker. I was very proud! I also love music of all genres. In fact, my guilty pleasure is attending “Vocaloid” concerts. For me they are an amazing combination of music, technology, imagination and creativity. In the future I hope to travel to Okinawa and relax on a beautiful beach with my wife. I would also love to try skiing in Hokkaido. If you have ever visited these places please come and talk to me about them! |
